Based on guidelines issued by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), Anthem recently made a change in their producer commission system pertaining to your Individual and Small Group business sold on the Health Insurance Marketplace (also called the exchange). Starting with the June 30, 2016 commission cycle, Anthem will compare the application submission date of a policy or group to the producer’s certification completion date before paying commission. If certification doesn’t exist on or prior to the application submission date, commissions will not be paid. As a result, commissions paid on policies with an application submission date prior to the producer’s certification date will cease going forward. This change applies to policies and groups sold on the exchange with contract effective dates of January 1, 2016 and forward. Email Michele@agent-link.net with questions.
