This month we are saddened by but also celebrate Debbie Walcott’’s retirement. Debbie has served as a key member of our Life Department for the past 14 years. Ask anyone who spends time with her, and they’ll tell you how plain it is to see that she cares deeply about her family at home and at work. Here’s what some of her coworkers said about her:
“Some would think working with your mother-in-law would be challenging but it was the opposite. She was such a light in the office. I am sad to see her leave the office but happy to see her enjoy the next chapter.”
– Brittney Walcott
Debbie was a WONDERFUL co-worker and a GREAT friend! She did an excellent job with any task assigned to her. She was always willing to give a helping hand to anything we were doing. Plus she was always able to keep us informed on ANYTHING UofL! She will be greatly missed, but wish her many great adventures in her retirement!
– Cheri Morgan
Debbie was a cheerful bright spot in the office! She was always quick to greet people with a smile and always had a good story or two to tell!
– Sarah Morley
Debbie was a hard worker who made sure that every contract was done right. She was always decked out in Louisville Cardinals gear.
– Eryn Hyman
Debbie is excited about retirement and looks forward to having a little more time to relax and enjoy the little things, but also the big things! A less busy schedule will let her enjoy going to sporting events, concerts, road trips, and visits with her grandchildren in Georgia. In addition, fall retirement brings plenty of chances to sleep in, watch Hallmark movies, and keep up with her Louisville Cardinals.
While it will be difficult to leave the friends she’s made here, she has no doubts that those friendships will continue.
We’ll miss you Debbie!
