New agents– or the part of the population who doesn’t read much about insurance –may not know the mission of an FMO, which stands for Field Marketing Organization. Maybe even a seasoned veteran in the insurance business has never utilized the help of an FMO. If that’s the case, they may be successful, but as an agency, they are missing out on many benefits. Of course, we believe strongly –and see it day in and day out– how much of an asset an FMO is to agents. We are here to share a little more about what we are.
An FMO is not…
An FMO is not a general marketing firm. We aren’t like a marketing firm or consultant for general businesses. Although we want to promote insurance agents, we also don’t manage the marketing efforts for each of our individual agents. We focus on getting the word out about the best products that are the best fit for each agent and helping THEM market and sell those products.
We also enjoy sharing the best resources to equip independent agents to market themselves without a full-scale, in-house marketing department. That’s why we recently created an e-book all about tips for marketing your independent agency. We offer tons of other marketing material, some of which we will even put your name and contact info on so you can use it to promote your business!
An FMO is also not its own insurance agency and the staff does not have to be licensed agents. They could have previous experience as agents, but in their current role, they are supporting and equipping other agents with products, certification help, and other administrative work so those agents can grow their business.
A relationship between us –the FMO and the agent– is mutually beneficial and it just makes sense. We only succeed when agents succeed. You need great products in order to sell well. We don’t just help you get access to that, we provide you the training and support you won’t get from the insurance carrier.
An FMO is…
Although we’ve already alluded to it –simply put, an FMO is an organization that markets, and distributes insurance products and supports an insurance agent. We are all about helping insurance agents grow their agency! And a great FMO does more than connect you to the best insurance products. We offer training, quoting services, expedited contracting, certification help, management of enrollment paperwork, clear commission reporting, general back-office support and more. Extending our Reach, Bettering our Site
We want to be like an extension of your agency in many ways. We want to be easily reachable. That’s one of the reasons we recently gave our website a makeover. If you’ve been a part of our community for a while, you may come to our site frequently to use our Quote tools or to look for updates on certain products. It was our aim to give you a more direct pathway to exactly what you’re looking for. Right at the top of our homepage, you’ll see a section directed specifically to returning agents and buttons that take you directly to our tools page and our resources page.
If you are newer to AgentLink, you’ll see how to get started writing business with us, and also you’ll find some free downloads we’d like to offer you.
