May 2016 Anthem Announcement
As a result of new guidance from The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, in accordance with the Affordable Care Act, individual policy holders who have previously accepted Transitional Relief (a.k.a. Grandmothered) policies can do so again. The revised guidance allows Anthem to offer non-ACA-compliant individual policy holders the ability to extend their current policies through 12/31/17.
Grandmothered individual policy holders that renew between 7/1/16 – 12/1/16 will remain on their current plan through 12/31/17 and move to an Individual ACA-compliant plan on 1/1/18.
Note: Grandmothered Kentucky individual members will renew at their renewal month, July 2016 – Dec 2016, and then keep that rate through 12/31/2017; moving to ACA plans 01/1/2018.
